EPUB version now available for more accessibility!
A commenter on the Goblin Errands kickstarter with some sensory issues was asking for a more accessible version of the game, which seemed like a mighty fine idea to me. I then spent the following Sunday diving deep into the topic of ebook genenration, formats, css, converters. It's quite a finicky business but I wanted to give it a try.
And since Goblin Errands is still under construction, I thought that maybe using The Mending Circle as a test subject might be a better idea. So I tweaked and I tinkered and I finally forged an epub that looks nice in all the eReaders and apps I could get my hands on.
Here's a picture of what it looks like on my old Kindle and my iPad. As you can see each device is very different. Some support custom fonts, some don't. Some can display borders or backgrounds, others can't.
Regardless, I think I've found a way to display the book that still honors the gorgeous PDF layout (that I am still immensely proud of) while still also being legible. It'll make it easy for people to change font sizes, have it be read aloud by their screen reader and so on.
I hope you enjoy the new format. And if you give it a try, let me know how it looks on your device!
Thanks,
Martin!
